  • Tongsayor London, England, United Kingdom (map)

This is a guided exploration of self with the physical and emotional hosted by Sophia Rose and Giap Tongsayor in an intimate private residential venue.

About this event

We invite you on a journey of surrendering to self, with guided self-tie lead by Sophia Rose and Crystal Sound bath by Giap Tongsayor.

Shibari is the Japanese practice of rope bondage literally meaning 'to tie'. It's origins draw on Hojujitsu and was used by Samuri as their technique to capture, restrain, and transport prisoners in a functional and aesthetic way. Though these techniques stopped being used, the imagery and aesthetic made its way into the underground BDSM and artistic culture of Japan. Shibari and images of people tied can be found in pornography, photos and paintings to this day.

Nowadays, enthusiasts of rope bondage and shibari draw on more traditional methods of tying as well as merging techniques with more western style bondage and imagery. Self-tying and tying for the purpose of conscious meditation is something which people are exploring more and more, rope bondage may always be intimate and personal, but it does not always have to be sexual.
